Welcome to the Flintloque scenario for the demonstration game at the Salute 2012 Wargame show held in London on April 21st. This scenario will be played out several times across the day of the show by, among others, the author of Flintloque 3rd edition Gavin Syme.
All of those gamers who take part will be given a ‘Kyngs Shilling’ a white metal coin which is worth a great reward at the Alternative Armies trade stand TJ09. Whilst copies of the scenario will be scattered on the gaming table (GH16) for players there has also been great interest by those who are not attending Salute in this scenario. For the benefit of the former and the latter we present the Salute 2012 scenario - Sharkes Gingerbread!
Please note that unlike a normal Flintloque scenario this special ‘convention game’ scenario is designed for complete novices of the game and for those who wish only to play for a short time too. As a result the game does not make use of skills/traits/flaws or other advance rules; instead sticking to short and sharp action.

There are places in Catalucia where magicke still exists in its rawest and weirdest form. Most of the time these places are overlooked and never visited even in times of war. So it would not come as a surprise to some of you to know that it is in these magicke charged places that a refugee from the privations of the Witchlands has taken up residence… Bakerov the Undead brother of the infamous Doctorov.
Bakerov fled the icy climes of his native land when the Dark Czar called him experiments into confectionary based troops too much heresy even for the liche master himself. Taking his two Dwarven assistants as well as all of his tools and equipment he even packed up his home onto a convoy of wagons and headed for where the master of the Witchlands has no influence; the sunny climes of Catalucia. All would have been well except for the chance arrival of an Elvish patrol in the hidden valley where Bakerov had rebuilt his strange house. The patrol arrived just as Bakerov’s experiments reached a successful climax… the creation of Gingerbread Men soldiers!
These Gingerbread Men made short work of the shocked Elves and then burst out in to the valley where they were confronted by another conflict that has somehow found its way into the same valley. That of Captain Rekhardt Sharke and his Rifleorcs against the Trolkin 3rd Lergo Line led by messers Bange & Oafson. These enemies are about to set about each others throats…and the Gingerbread House and its denizens are right in the middle!

Scenario & Objectives
This special convention scenario has three sides and a simple objective that being to prevail and to destroy their foes!
The gaming table is a standard six foot by four foot and is covered in a smooth and open grassy space. In the middle of the gaming area is the Gingerbread House and to the south is a large rocky hill. To the north are are scattered trees and small hills. To the east is a small hamlet of abandoned houses and to the west are scattered trees.
Each side in this scenario has a designated letter. Captain Sharke is ‘A’, the Trolkin are ‘B’ and Bakerov and his baked troops are ‘C’. Section A sets up in the south on top of the rocky hill. Section B sets up to the east among the buildings and within 5cm of each other. Section C sets up within 10cm of the Gingerbread House in any formation that the controlling players wishes.
There are no special or unique rules in this scenario but on the day we might just throw some in off the cuff!
The game begins as normal with the Initiative roll for each player and then its a straight fight. Will anyone ally themselves with Bakerov or will they gang up on the Gingerbread Men. Will Captain Sharke meet his match in Bange & Oafson…play on and see!
The Forces in Play
While all of the miniatures in this scenario have their own profiles and some of them have unique statistics supplied with their miniatures too we treat them rather differently here.
In this scenario all characters have no talents or skills or special rules they have standard profiles in terms of experience level, troop type and weapons. This aids in teaching brand new players (as you might well be right now) and making play super fast so that more gamers can have a try of Flintloque in the space of what is only a few hours. But these standard profiles apply ONLY in this scenario and no where else.
Sharkes Chosen Section
This section consists of seven characters. Here are their simple profiles.
Captain Sharke - Orc, Legendary, Light Troop. Bakur Rifle and Sword.
Sergeant Harpy - Bog Orc, Veteran, Light Troop. Volley Gun.
Rifleorc Hagsmun - Orc, Experienced, Light Troop. Bakur Rifle.
Rifleorc Arris - Orc, Experienced, Light Troop. Bakur Rifle.
Rifleorc Tunge - Orc, Experienced, Light Troop. Bakur Rifle.
Rifleorc Koopa - Orc, Average, Light Troop. Bakur Rifle.
Rifleorc Purrkinz - Orc, Raw, Light Troop. Bakur Rifle.

Bange & Oafson’s Section
This section consists of eight characters. Here are their simple profiles.
Bange - Trolkin, Veteran, Regular. Dwarf MkII Musket.
Oafson - Trolkin, Veteran, Regular. Dwarf MkII Musket, Lance.
Captain Hurm - Trolkin, Experienced, Regular. Mace (count as Sword).
Private Borken - Trolkin, Average, Regular. Dwarf MkII Musket.
Private Lurka - Trolkin, Average, Regular. Dwarf MkII Musket.
Private Smorg - Trolkin, Average, Regular. Dwarf MkII Musket.
Sergeant Harme - Trolka, Average, Regular. Skandavian Kannonderbuss.
Private Towver - Trolka, Average, Regular. Skandavian Kannonderbuss.

This section contains six characters. Here are their simple profiles.
Bakerov - Savant Zombie. Unarmed.
Findus - Dwarf, Average, Regular. Ladle (small improvised weapon +1)
Burtseye - Dwarf, Average, Regular. Ladle (small improvised weapon +1)
‘Nibbles’ - Gingerbread Man. Unarmed.
‘Jelly’ - Gingerbread Man. Unarmed.
‘Buttons’ - Gingerbread Man. Unarmed.

Miniatures and Books Used in This Scenario
While there are hand outs for the basic statistics and mechanics of Flintloque 3rd edition in this demo game you will need a Flintloque game book in order to play fully. We recommend 5025 War in Catalucia or 5028 Bier & Bones (if you wish to follow the Orcs or the Trolls).
The miniatures used in this scenario are as follows:
For the Orcish section the miniatures are from the 5109 Sharkes Chosen boxed set.
For the Trolls we used LE045 Bange & Oafson plus 57029 Lergo Line Command and 57030 Lergo Line Privates as well as 56553, 56554 Trolka Line Infantry.
Finally Bakerov and his Ginger minions are all from the VLE11 Gingerbread Set.
